Makara Sankranti, or Harvest festival, is celebrated for 3 days in mid-January. The first day is called Bhogi that is spent with gaiety. The second day is called Sankranthi when the sun enters the Makara Rasi (the zodiac sign of Capricorn). The third day is called Kanuma. During the festival the agarian community acknowledges their gratitude to the contribution given by animals. They decorate their bulls, conduct games including cockfights, bullfights and ram fights.
